Abstract IgG antibodies have a conserved N-linked glycan on residue Asn297 of the homodimeric Fc region that modulates antibody-mediated effector functions. These effects on the immune response are reflected in correlations between IgG glycans and numerous infectious and autoimmune diseases. However, current studies fail to characterize these Asn297-linked glycans comprehensively, relying on glycan release methods.

NEWS AND VIEWS 04 June 2025 Damage to the vascular lining leads to interactions with red blood cells that hint at how to treat dangerous complications of heart attack, stroke and COVID-19. In various life-threatening illnesses, damage occurs to the endothelium, the inner lining of blood vessels. Writing in Nature, Wu et al.1 report that dying endothelial cells directly induce the destruction of red blood cells.

Here, we describe a microfluidic on-chip 3D system for rapid evaluation of a subset of patient-derived bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) samples used in a phase 3 multicenter trial (NCT03818737) evaluating autologous cells for relieving knee osteoarthritis pain.
