Superhero comics are fundamentally Jewish literature. In the 1930s and 1940s Jewish immigrants in New York were kept out of most respectable industries, so publishers, writers and artists created an industry of their own, comics. They also created its proprietary genre, superheroes, which they infused with various levels of Jewish signification. Less known is that the comic book itself is a Jewish invention.

Dal 12 maggio al 6 giugno 2018, la CArt Gallery di Roma, in collaborazione con Arf! Festival, ospiterà una esposizione di tavole originali di Will Eisner, il creatore di The Spirit e di graphic novel come Contratto con Dio e Fagin l’ebreo. L'histoire : Lors d'une de ses virées au Vietnam, un dessinateur est accompagné par un major qui passe sa dernière journée avant son retour au pays. Le calme règne depuis quelques temps et l'opportunité de visiter une base située en pleine zone démilitarisée ne peut qu'être digne d'intérêt. La route n'est pas très stable et la jeep qui conduit le dessinateur au campement le secoue dans tous les sens. A leur arrivée, ils prennent l'hélicoptère. Le major se réjouit des décors qu'ils aperçoivent.
