What was your first job as a journalist?
At the age of 13, I embarked on my journey as a journalist in the thrilling world of professional wrestling. It was at SÚPER LUCHAS - Superluchas.com where I immersed myself in the role of a reporter, a position I still hold with dedication and enthusiasm. Through this platform, I have the opportunity to share news and analysis about one of the most exciting and adrenaline-filled sports entertainment.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Of course! When I was a child, around the age of 7, I started using a typewriter. I absolutely loved writing! It was my mother, Vicky Espitia, who taught me how to use it. The typewriter was a family heirloom that had been passed down from her own mother, and my mother had used it for many years. She could type at a high speed, as she had studied typing. I still have that typewriter somewhere. I believe it was there, thanks to my mother, where I acquired the skill to quickly type on a computer keyboard, even without looking at it! It's ingrained in my mind!
How is social media changing news?
Social media is significantly transforming the way news is consumed and shared. It has revolutionized the speed of information dissemination, allowing news to spread instantly worldwide. However, challenges have also emerged regarding misinformation and the spread of fake news. One of the main advantages of social media is its ability to accelerate the dissemination of news. Platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram enable information to reach millions of people within seconds. This has led to a shift in the way news is consumed, with a greater demand for real-time information. However, this speed has also led to the proliferation of misinformation. The ease with which fake or misleading news can be shared has presented a significant challenge to the accuracy of information on social media. The lack of regulation and online anonymity have facilitated the spread of false information, which can have a negative impact on society and informed decision-making.It is essential to address this challenge and promote media literacy in the use of social media. Users need to be aware of the need to verify information before sharing it and equipped with the necessary skills to identify fake news. Additionally, social media platforms also have a responsibility to implement measures that reduce the spread of misinformation and promote a reliable and ethical information environment.
