It means spotlighting historically marginalized communities and underrepresented issues that viewers often overlook.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Get to know your constituents. Your biggest stories often come from community members who raise concerns on issues that impact their day.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

Many people think that education reporters only talk to students, which is not the case! We also talk to parents, edu. officials, etc...
