Have We Forgotten?
“Have you forgotten how it felt that day?” Those poignant lyrics in country music singer Darryl Worley’s 2003 chart-topping song “Have You Forgotten” still resonate over two decades later. On the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, which took the lives of nearly 3,000 of our fellow citizens, the question is worth asking again: Have we forgotten how it felt that day?

Weather conditions across our great state have been quite inconsistent this year, with some areas of Montana receiving adequate precipitation while other localities seem to have gotten very little, leaving many cattle producers and farmers in a tough spot. Water’s for fightin’ but bill delivers compromise
In Montana, the following statement rings true now more than ever: “Whiskey is for drinking, and water is for fighting.” Although the quote is often misattributed to Mark Twain, the adage’s creator was highlighting a perennial issue in governance out west – water rights. In 2025, exempt wells are in the spotlight. For those unfamiliar, an exempt well allows a person to utilize a groundwater well or developed spring while avoiding the extensive permitting process to claim rights for that well.

Guest column: Complaint Against Knudsen is a partisan attack for doing his job
It is shameful that the Office of Disciplinary Council, which is appointed by the liberal-dominated Montana Supreme Court, is pursuing a meritless, ethical complaint against Attorney General Austin Knudsen for simply doing his job representing the Legislature in a legitimate Constitutional dispute between the Legislature and the Court. We’re confident that an examination of the facts will show this complaint for the political-motivated stunt that it is.

James Brown is the Right Choice for the Montana Supreme Court
During the 2021 legislative session, our Legislature passed historic legislation that all Montanans can be proud of. We cut taxes, defended our freedoms from government overreach, protected the unborn, secured our elections, and much more. Republicans from all across Montana came to Helena for the 67th legislative session with a clear and resounding mandate from Montana voters to pass these bills and we are proud to report that we did it.

Safeguarding Our Outdoor Heritage
The rights to hunt, fish and access our public lands are engrained in Montana’s Constitution, our state’s heritage, and in the hearts and minds of the people you elect to represent you in Helena. Republican legislators include landowners, avid hunters, fishermen and women, competitive shooters, hikers, ATV riders, boaters, skiers, and outdoor enthusiasts of all types. Guest column: Montana Republicans protected individual rights
Guest column: Montana Republicans protected individual rights Montanans are fiercely independent and cherish our constitutional rights and freedoms. We are proud to report that this legislative session Republicans passed a series of bills that safeguard individual rights, and thankfully we have a governor who has signed them into law. Early in the session, House Republicans introduced House Bill 102 to expand permitless carry of firearms.
Legislature Expanded Education Opportunities
Education has been one of the most disrupted sectors by COVID-19. The ripple effects of school closures and remote learning have further put pressure on families and our economy. The Legislature responded by giving more flexibility to students, families, and educators to engage in individualized learning. We began the session by providing local school boards with stability as they were beginning their annual budgeting process.

Responsible budget will drive economic comeback
by Wylie Galt, Casey Knudsen, Sue Vinton | May 10, 2021 12:00 AM The primary constitutional duty of the Montana Legislature each session is to pass a balanced two-year state budget. House Bill 2 is the state budget bill and it reflects months of work by House and Senate committees to set Montana’s economy up for a strong comeback through responsible state spending and tax reductions.
Opinion: Montanans can be proud of 67th Legislature
Opinion: Montanans can be proud of 67th Legislature The 67th session of the Montana Legislature is one that Montanans can be proud of. Voters sent us to Helena with a mandate to change the way state government does business. At the beginning of the session, we made policy promises that we are proud to report we have delivered on. Our primary constitutional duty is to pass a balanced state budget.
Legislature Advancing Key Infrastructure and Conservation Projects
In recent weeks, the Montana Legislature has advanced bills to support critical infrastructure and conservation projects across the state. Starting with House Bill 632, Republicans committed to investing the latest round of federal COVID relief dollars in infrastructure, telecommunications, and economic stabilization that will support our economy for future generations. While it was fiscally irresponsible for Congress to pile up more national debt, we invested the funds wisely.

Gianforte is ready to lead
Gianforte is ready to lead The race for governor could not offer a starker contrast between the two candidates. Congressman Gianforte has proven himself to be a hardworking, job creator, problem solver, and innovator. Mike Cooney has been a typical lifelong bureaucrat, protecting only his own job, and living off taxpayers. These differences, however, are merely the tip of the iceberg. Greg has the proven business leadership experience we need in the governor’s office.
Gianforte will bring conservative values
If you’ve been paying attention to the news, it’s clear that the 2020 election cycle is upon us. This includes our own governor’s race. For the last 16 years, we have sent a Democrat to Helena to be our state’s chief executive, and the results have been clear. A less than stellar economy which causes many to leave the state, an alarming increase in violent crime and drug use that is destroying our communities. Montana cannot afford another term of Democratic leadership in Helena.
Representatives favor bill to permit blackjack
In 1981 North Dakota’s gambling industry experienced a sudden boom. The state began raking in gambling tax revenue, which was pledged to charities and nonprofit organizations. And while the gamblers would of course get to keep their winnings, groups across the state and local communities benefited from the sudden increase in revenue.Montana is now in a position to pass similar legislation and bring in needed revenue to our state at a time when we are in desperate need of a boost.
