Reduced photoreceptor layer thickness in early type 2 diabetes mellitus is associated with decreased contrast sensitivity: a prospective cross-sectional study
Abstract Purpose: To investigate changes in contrast sensitivity (CS) in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) with no diabetic retinopathy (DR) or nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR) and to assess the relationships between these alterations and early retinal microstructure. Methods: This prospective cross-sectional study included subjects aged 40–60 years, including 30 healthy controls, 30 individuals with T2DM without DR, and 30 individuals with T2DM and NPDR.

A Dual Magnetic-Centrifugal Field Strategy for Orienting Thermal Fillers in High Thermal Conductivity Composites
1 Introduction In the context of the ongoing trends towards miniaturization, integration, and high-power density in electronic devices, the thermal management of these devices has emerged as a critical and urgent research focus [1-3]. The primary function of thermal interface materials is to mitigate thermal resistance. They achieve this by filling microscopic air gaps at solid-contact interfaces, thereby forming continuous pathways for heat conduction.
Growing Like Ivy: Exploring EFL Teachers’ Transformative Agency in the GenAI Context Based on the Double Stimulation Principle
1 Introduction The advancement of artificial intelligence (AI), including generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), in educational contexts highlights the need for teachers to respond to this evolving landscape. GenAI integration can support teaching by generating teaching materials, providing feedback, and reducing teachers’ administrative workload (Zaimoğlu and Dağtaş 2025).
Independent and combined associations of diabetes and thyroid disorders with risks of incident dementia
Abstract Background: Diabetes and thyroid disorders are modifiable risk factors for cognitive impairment. However, no studies have been conducted to comprehensively examine associations of different types of the two diseases, as well as their combinations, with dementia risks. Methods: Based on the data from UK Biobank study, patients with different types of diabetes and thyroid disorders were identified with the hospital inpatient record.
Cis and trans regulatory mechanisms of extrachromosomal DNA segregation
Abstract Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) attach to chromosomes during mitosis for random segregation and promote cancer heterogeneity. However, the mechanism governing ecDNA–chromosome mitotic interactions remains poorly understood. Here we show that ecDNAs tether to histone H3 lysine 27 acetylation (H3K27ac)-marked chromatin during mitosis. Depleting H3K27ac disrupts this interaction.
Association between CHRNA5 polymorphisms and Parkinson’s disease in Northern Chinese Han population: a case-control study
Abstract Background Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a complex neurodegenerative disorder characterised by the progressive loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra, resulting in motor symptoms such as bradykinesia, resting tremor, rigidity, and postural instability.
Shared gene signatures and biochemical regulatory networks linking Parkinson’s disease and ulcerative colitis
Abstract Epidemiological studies suggest an association between Parkinson’s disease (PD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), yet the molecular programs potentially linking these disorders remain poorly defined. Here, we integrated curated disease-gene resources with publicly available blood transcriptomic datasets to identify shared molecular features across PD and UC. We identified 320 shared signature genes and a topology-derived 10-gene core module that included TNF, IL1B, TP53, BCL2, and CASP3.

Prediction of aero engine remaining service life using a bidirectional GRU model with self attention mechanism
Abstract The performance and operational lifespan of aircraft engines are critical factors influencing flight safety and economic viability. Traditional methods for predicting aircraft engine service life often overlook microstructural changes, resulting in inaccurate predictions. To address this, a deep learning approach combining the Bidirectional Gated Recurrent Unit (BiGRU) model and self-Attention Mechanism (AM) for more accurate and reliable predictions is proposed.
Protein quality control and antigen presentation in the development of hepatitis B-related hepatocellular carcinoma
Abstract Chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection remains a leading cause of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) worldwide. Although viral integration, chronic inflammation, and immune-mediated injury are established contributors to carcinogenesis, emerging evidence indicates that hepatocellular protein quality control (PQC) pathways and antigen presentation mechanisms play central mechanistic roles in shaping the cellular and immunological environment in which HBV-related HCC develops.

Inflammation mediates the effect of histidine on a lower risk of colorectal cancer
1 Background Colorectal cancer (CRC) ranks as the third most prevalent malignancy and the second leading cause of cancer-related mortality globally (1). With an estimated 50% of CRC cases being preventable (2), there is substantial potential to reduce the risk of this common cancer by modifying key lifestyle factors, particularly diet (2), highlighting the critical role of nutritional interventions in CRC prevention.

Optimising G-CLSM properties through alkali activator conditions and sensitivity analysis of mix parameters
Abstract This study addresses two key research gaps in the development of geopolymer-based controlled low-strength materials (G-CLSM): (1) the lack of a systematic evaluation of the sensitivity of G-CLSM performance to key mix design parameters, and (2) the limited understanding of how the physical state of the alkali activator – liquid (LAAM) or solid (SAAM) – affects material behaviour.

Ferroptosis enhances the therapeutic potential of oncolytic adenoviruses KD01 against cancer - Cancer Gene Therapy
Abstract Oncolytic virotherapy has emerged as a promising strategy for cancer treatment by selectively targeting and lysing tumor cells. However, its efficacy is often limited in certain tumor types due to multiple factors. This study explores the combination of oncolytic adenoviruses with Erastin, a potent ferroptosis inducer, to enhance antitumor efficacy in oncolytic virus-insensitive cancer cell lines.

Superior Control of Spacecraft Re-Entry Trajectory
1. Introduction In the design of control systems, traditional control methods evaluate the quality based on a given single index. If multiple aspects are required to be good in this process, it is impossible to achieve this using this single index control method. The most common method is to clarify the main and secondary optimization requirements of the system, assign corresponding weights to each index, and obtain a comprehensive index after weighting.

Circular RNA circMYLK4 shifts energy metabolism from glycolysis to OXPHOS by binding to the calcium channel auxiliary subunit CACNA2D2
Abstract Skeletal muscle is heterogeneous tissue, composed of fast-twitch fibers primarily relying on glycolysis and slow-twitch fibers primarily relying on oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS). The relative expression and balance of glycolysis and oxidative phosphorylation in skeletal muscle are crucial for muscle growth and skeletal muscle metabolism.
