Pretreatment CT radiomics for prediction of pathological complete response after neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy in NSCLC: a multicenter study incorporating habitat analysis
Abstract Background: Pathological complete response (pCR) after neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy (NACI) varies among patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). This study aimed to quantify intratumoral heterogeneity using habitat analysis and to develop a pretreatment model for predicting pCR. Methods: In this retrospective multicenter study, 287 patients with NSCLC who received NACI followed by surgery were included.
Evaluating Creativity in Generative AI Outputs: Dimensions and Cross-National Differences Among Art and Design Students
ABSTRACT Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) has revolutionized the creative industries, prompting its widespread adoption in higher education. However, significant gaps remain regarding students’ perceptions of AI-generated visual outputs across different cultures. Employing a multi-stage methodological approach, this study first utilized focus groups to identify the dimensions underlying the perceived creativity of AI-generated visual outputs.

Thermal aging-induced evolution of the spectral transmission characteristics of fiber bundles for optical partial discharge detection
Abstract Fiber bundles serve as optical transmission channels in partial-discharge (PD) detection systems, and thermal aging may alter the spectra acquired by external detectors. This study investigated the spectral-response evolution of a silica-based fiber bundle after thermal aging at 85 °C for 0, 24, 72, 168, and 336 h. A simulated-chamber platform using an integrating-sphere broadband source was established to acquire output spectra over 200–920 nm through segmented scanning and stitching.
Effects of metallic debris and environmental factors on negative DC needle–plate air-gap discharge
Abstract To investigate the effects of metallic debris and environmental factors on the discharge characteristics of a negative DC needle–plate air gap, a high-voltage discharge test platform was established. Discharge spectra in the solar-blind ultraviolet band, ultraviolet images, high-speed images, and breakdown voltages were obtained.
Van der Waals strain hardening and large uniform tensile elongation in GaSe
|
Abstract Van der Waals (vdW) semiconductors are promising candidates for next-generation electronic devices. Although plasticity has been observed in these materials, strain hardening and large uniform tensile elongation remain elusive. Here we report that GaSe single crystals exhibit exceptional tensile ductility when loaded along directions inclined to the [0001] zone axis, achieving uniform tensile elongation exceeding 40% together with pronounced strain hardening.

Phantom-based evaluation of radiomics feature stability for low-dose CT lung cancer screening
Abstract Objective: To assess the stability of radiomic features derived from lung nodules under low-dose CT lung cancer screening conditions and to evaluate the influence of feature stability on model performance. Methods: A chest phantom containing eight simulated lung nodules was scanned on five CT scanners using varying tube voltages (100–120 kVp) and tube currents (20–60 mA·s) to simulate inter-scanner and intra-scanner variability.
The renaissance of Salmonella -based cancer therapy: convergence of AI, synthetic circuits, and TME remodeling
Abstract Attenuated Salmonella has become a candidate bacterium for cancer immunotherapy, as it possesses tumor-targeting activity and is able to penetrate the hypoxic, immune-suppressive TME. However, preclinical successes were not successfully translated into early clinical trials (e.g., VNP20009) due to a critical “immunogenicity-safety trade-off,” in which the attenuation required to ensure safety compromised the ability to generate effective anti-tumor immunity.
Risk prediction for long-term cardiovascular events in patients with concurrent hypertension, HFpEF, and unstable angina: a multicenter machine learning-assisted cohort study
Abstract Background: Patients with concurrent hypertension, heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), and unstable angina pectoris (UAP) represent a high-risk population with heterogeneous long-term cardiovascular outcomes. However, practical tools for individualized risk stratification in this clinically complex population remain limited.

Paper page - Gold-medalist Performance in Solving Olympiad Geometry with AlphaGeometry2
Papers Published on Feb 5 · Submitted by akhaliq on Feb 7 #2 Paper of the day Abstract We present AlphaGeometry2, a significantly improved version of AlphaGeometry introduced in Trinh et al. (2024), which has now surpassed an average gold medalist in solving Olympiad geometry problems. To achieve this, we first extend the original AlphaGeometry language to tackle harder problems involving movements of objects, and problems containing linear equations of angles, ratios, and distances.

Paper page - Megalodon: Efficient LLM Pretraining and Inference with Unlimited Context Length
Papers Published on Apr 12 · Featured in Daily Papers on Apr 16 Abstract The quadratic complexity and weak length extrapolation of Transformers limits their ability to scale to long sequences, and while sub-quadratic solutions like linear attention and state space models exist, they empirically underperform Transformers in pretraining efficiency and downstream task accuracy. We introduce Megalodon, a neural architecture for efficient sequence modeling with unlimited context length.

Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1Ras) are the most effective drug for glycaemic control and weight loss in treating type 2 diabetes by reducing haemoglobin A1c and fasting plasma glucose concentrations (1); Science has named GLP-1 drugs the Breakthrough of the Year, which shed weight, cure diabetes and heart failure as well as kidney disease (2).
Mitochondrial fission surveillance is coupled to Caenorhabditis elegans DNA and chromosome segregation integrity
Abstract Mitochondrial fission and fusion are tightly regulated to specify mitochondrial abundance, localization, and arrangement during cell division as well as in the diverse differentiated cell types and physiological states. However, the regulatory pathways for such mitochondrial dynamics are less explored than the mitochondrial fission and fusion components. Here we report a large-scale screen for genes that regulate mitochondrial fission.

Charged Fibrous Dressing to Promote Diabetic Chronic Wound Healing
Diabetic chronic wounds cause a significant amount of pain to patients because of their low cure rates and high recurrence rates. Traditional approaches to treating diabetic chronic wounds often involve the delivery of drugs or cytokines that regulate the microenvironment and eliminate bacterial infection in the wound area, but they are passive in controlling cell behaviors and may lead to drug resistance.

Exposure and Blood-Cerebrospinal Fluid Barrier Permeability of PFASs in Neonates
The blood–cerebrospinal fluid barrier (BCSFB) is essential for protecting neonates from potential cerebral damage and neurological disorders caused by per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs). However, the occurrence of various PFASs in neonatal cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and matched serum as well as the penetration of PFASs across the BCSFB in the developing brain remain unclear.
