Linoleic acid accelerates osteoarthritis progression in male rats by targeting iron-sulfur clusters to drive ferroptosis in chondrocytes
Abstract The development of osteoarthritis (OA) is accompanied by various metabolic disorders, highlighting the need for further investigation into metabolism-related pathogenesis and targeted therapeutic strategies. Herein, we found that linoleic acid (LA), the most abundant essential fatty acid in the diet, accumulates in the blood, synovial fluid, and cartilage tissue of elderly and OA individuals.
Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Improves Cognitive Impairment via the Regulation of White Matter Injury in Rats With Ischemic Stroke
1 Introduction Stroke is the second leading cause of mortality and the third leading cause of disability worldwide (Feigin and Owolabi 2023). High proportions of stroke survivors suffer from motor dysfunction and neuropsychiatric sequelae. Poststroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) is one of the major consequences of ischemic stroke and a major cause of long-term disability. Approximately one-third of stroke survivors have considerable cognitive impairment within a few months after stroke.

Intermittent theta burst stimulation for poststroke non-spatial attention deficit: a protocol of prospective, double-blinded, single-centre, randomised controlled trial in China
The primary outcomes are the change in the MoCA scores and the DST scores before and after a 2-week treatment, which are used to evaluate improvements in cognitive function and attention function.
Effect of Slightly Acidic Electrolyzed Water on Growth, Diarrhea and Intestinal Bacteria of Newly Weaned Piglets
Abstract : As an environmentally-friendly agent, slightly acidic electrolyzed water (SAEW) was introduced in drinking water of newly weaned piglets for diarrhea prevention. In total, 72 piglets were employed and 3% SAEW was added into the normal temperature and warm (30 °C) tap water, respectively, for this 33-day feeding experiment. It was found that the total bacteria and coliforms in the drinking water were reduced by 70% and 100%, respectively, with the addition of 3% SAEW.
Effect of moderate exercise on osteoarthritis
EFORT Open Reviews is committed to supporting researchers in demonstrating the impact of their articles published in the journal. As an open-access journal, EFORT Open Reviews articles are immediately available to read on publication, without restriction. The two types of article metrics we measure are (i) more traditional full-text views and pdf downloads, and (ii) Altmetric data, which shows the wider impact of articles in a range of non-traditional sources, such as social media.
The Gut Microbiota in Osteoarthritis
Abstract and Introduction Abstract Osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most frequent musculoskeletal diseases characterized by degeneration of articular cartilage, subchondral bone remodeling, and synovial membrane inflammation, which is a leading cause of global disability, morbidity, and decreased quality of life. Interpreting the potential mechanisms of OA pathogenesis is essential for developing novel prevention and disease-modifying therapeutic interventions.
