Limited agricultural gains but high flood risk from global wetland reclamation
Abstract In recent decades, wetland reclamation for agricultural cultivation has remained as one solution to meet rising food demand; however, its agricultural benefits and broader sustainability implications are poorly understood. Here we identify wetland-reclaimed croplands (WRC) globally from 2000 to 2022 and assess their crop production performance and flood exposure risk.
Spatially resolved chromatin architectures in mammalian brain tissues
Abstract Unraveling 3D chromatin architectures is crucial for decoding regulatory programs of development and disease. However, current sequencing-based methods typically profile 3D genome organizations while sacrificing the spatial context of tissues. Here we present spatial high‑throughput chromosome conformation capture (Hi-C), a technology that resolves genome-wide chromatin structures directly within tissue sections.
αTIGIT-guided IL-15 mimetics drive potent and safe antitumor immunity by restoring tumor-infiltrating T cells
|
Abstract Cytokines are powerful modulators of antitumor immunity, but their clinical use is limited by structural instability, short half-life, poor drug-like properties, and severe systemic toxicity. Antibody-based cytokine mimetics have recently emerged to activate immune cells in vitro, but whether these mimetics can overcome the shortcomings of cytokines and exert therapeutic efficacy in vivo remains unclear.

Soil carbon gains from salt marsh recovery in China
Abstract Coastal salt marshes in China, one of the few countries to achieve net salt marsh gains in recent decades, are important blue carbon ecosystems. However, the lack of national-scale assessments of salt marsh changes and associated soil organic carbon (SOC) dynamics limits our understanding of their climate mitigation potential. Here we show how remote sensing and machine learning quantify changes in salt marsh area and surface SOC across China.

Standard health education has shown limited effects in this population, and motivational interviewing may support sustained behavior change, yet evidence from randomized controlled trials remains scarce.
Projected mycotoxin contamination in European wheat under future climate and socioeconomic scenarios
Abstract Mycotoxin contamination in wheat is strongly influenced by weather conditions, yet how contamination may evolve under future climate and socioeconomic change remains poorly understood at the European scale. Here, we develop a hybrid modelling framework combining machine learning and crop phenology to assess scenario-dependent changes in mycotoxin contamination. The framework integrates historical monitoring data with climate projections under multiple Shared Socioeconomic Pathways.
Macrophage-derived fibronectin suppresses antitumor immunity via tissue stiffening and immunosuppressive cell induction in cancer mouse models
Abstract Both tumor-associated macrophage (TAM) and tumor stiffness may support immunosuppression and limit immunotherapy response, particularly in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). TAMs influence extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling, but whether they also affect tumor stiffness, or are regulated by mechanical signals in turn, remains to be investigated.
C2orf74 orchestrates germ-Leydig crosstalk to inhibit white adipose tissue browning in male mice
Abstract Sex differences in obesity are well recognized; however, the identification of sex-specific obesity genes and the mechanisms through which they affect obesity development remain elusive. Here, we identify a germ-cell-specific gene C2orf74, whose expression is responsive to high-fat diet (HFD) and promotes HFD-induced obesity in male mice by restraining lipolysis and limiting the browning of white adipocytes through suppression of androgen receptor signaling, but not in females.
Staphylococcus epidermidis prevents UV-induced skin aging by suppressing TLR3-mediated senescence
Abstract Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is a major environmental driver of skin photoaging and induces keratinocyte senescence accompanied by the release of senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP) factors that promote dermal degeneration. However, whether and how skin commensal bacteria modulate UV-induced senescence remains incompletely understood. Here, we investigated the potential role of Staphylococcus epidermidis, a dominant epidermal commensal, in regulating UV-induced skin photoaging.

A novel “tea nurturing flowers” perspective: tea dhool moisture‑controlled preservation of Osmanthus vitality for superior scented tea aroma
Abstract The ability of flowers to sustain fragrance release during the scenting process dominates the aroma quality of scented tea, rather than the capacity of tea dhool to passively adsorb volatiles. Plucked flowers remain metabolically active, whose physiological status governs the persistence and intensity of fragrance emission.
