1 Introduction The cingulate cortex (CC) is a crescent-shaped region of the cerebral cortex situated on the medial surface of the cerebral hemispheres, bounded by the cingulate sulcus superiorly and the corpus callosum inferiorly [1]. The cingulate gyrus exhibits a complex subregional organization, which can be delineated using various methods including cytoarchitecture, myelination patterns, immunohistochemistry, functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), and receptor distribution [2-5].
