Carbohydrate food structure before sugar dose in metabolic ageing after hypertension or diabetes
Abstract Hypertension and diabetes make large populations candidates for dietary counseling, yet carbohydrate advice is often narrowed to reducing sugar intake. This study asked whether carbohydrate food structure should be assessed before sugar dose using biological ageing and renal risk as cardiometabolic readouts.

Development and validation of risk factors prediction model for hypoxemia in the PACU patients after major abdominal surgery: a retrospective study
Abstract Objective: Hypoxemia is a common and potentially harmful complication in patients undergoing major abdominal surgery (MAS). We aimed to develop and validate a nomogram prediction model for hypoxemia in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) after MAS. Patients and methods: A total of 378 patients who underwent MAS and were admitted into the PACU were selected as the training group from June 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024.
The effect of long-term care insurance on labor force participation among informal caregivers: evidence from China - Humanities and Social Sciences Communications
Abstract To meet the long-term care needs of older people and relieve the pressure of family caregiving, China has launched long-term care insurance (LTCI) pilots. However, it remains uncertain whether and how it affects the labor behavior of informal caregivers. Based on the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study, this study empirically examines the effect of LTCI on labor force participation of informal caregivers using a staggered difference-in-difference method.

Establishment of a protocol for rapidly expanding Epstein–Barr-virus-specific cytotoxic T cells with enhanced cytotoxicity - BMC Cancer
The primary aim of this study is to develop a GMP-compatible protocol for rapidly expanding high-purity virus-specific CTLs from PBMCs, which can be reached by expanding circulating virus-specific effector memory T cells. Studies have suggested that IL-15 can activate effector memory CTLs and can be utilized in triggering in vitro expanding virus-specific effector memory T cells, though its role in expanding EBV-CTLs was not examined [19].
Deficiency of the HGF/Met pathway leads to thyroid dysgenesis by impeding late thyroid expansion - Nature Communications
Abstract The mechanisms of bifurcation, a key step in thyroid development, are largely unknown. Here we find three zebrafish lines from a forward genetic screening with similar thyroid dysgenesis phenotypes and identify a stop-gain mutation in hgfa and two missense mutations in met by positional cloning from these zebrafish lines. The elongation of the thyroid primordium along the pharyngeal midline was dramatically disrupted in these zebrafish lines carrying a mutation in hgfa or met.

The association of spousal depressive symptoms and cognitive function among older adults: mediation and moderated mediation analyses
Abstract Objectives To test whether contagious depressive symptoms mediate the association between spousal depressive symptoms (spousal-DS) and the other spouse’s cognitive function, and test the moderated mediation of social activities engagement and sleep quality. Study design A total of 3,230 adults aged ≥60 and one of his/her close relatives were interviewed in 2016 in Xiamen, China. Methods Cognitive function and depressive symptoms were measured by MoCA and GDS-15/CES-D-10, respectively.

Differential integrin expression regulates cell sensing of the matrix nanoscale geometry
Cells are not “free-standing” objects but require to adhere to the extracellular matrix (ECM) and to other cells in order to survive, carry out their function and form more complex structures (tissues). It has been shown in the last decades that cells feel and respond to the physical properties of the complex environment constituted by the ECM, contact with neighbouring cells and soluble growth factors and cytokines.
