Abstract Depression is a prevalent neuropsychiatric disorder with high incidence and causing severe disability, representing a clinically unmet challenge and thus demanding more effective therapeutics. Neuroinflammation in the central nervous system (CNS) is a pathological feature of depression and, with increasing recognition, it is also a critical depression-driving mechanism.

A bifunctional urea catalyst enables controlled/living ring-opening polymerization: access to various polyesters† The development of bifunctional catalysts for synergistic catalysis has emerged as a key strategy for achieving precise polymer synthesis, particularly for challenging ring-opening polymerizations (ROP). We introduce a series of bifunctional catalysts designed for the controlled/living ROP of L-lactide (LLA) and other cyclic monomers.

We propose an improved hologram with both phase and amplitude modulation to generate superimposed fractional optical vortices (SFOVs). The modulation of the optical field’s amplitude and phase is achieved through the utilization of controllable diffraction efficiency of the transmission function.
