DBT Modulates Copper-Dependent Cuproptosis-Related Injury in Experimental Alcoholic Cardiomyopathy
1 Introduction Alcohol abuse and dependence are critical global public health concerns, ranking as the seventh leading risk factor for death and disability worldwide [1]. Long-term excessive alcohol consumption can lead to myocardial cell injury and ultimately result in nonischemic dilated cardiomyopathy, which is referred to as alcoholic cardiomyopathy (ACM) [2]. Characterized by systolic dysfunction, ventricular dilation, apoptosis and fibrosis, ultimately progressing to heart failure [3].
Kat5 deficiency in alveolar type II cells licenses STAT6-driven glycolytic reprogramming and pulmonary fibrosis
Abstract Pulmonary fibrosis (PF) remains a lethal progressive disease with poorly defined molecular drivers. Epithelial dysfunction and metabolic reprogramming contribute to PF, but the mechanistic link between these processes remains unclear. Here, we identify a Kat5-STAT6 epigenetic-metabolic axis that governs fibrotic progression. Kat5 directly acetylates STAT6 at lysine 636 (K636), thereby suppressing STAT6 dimerization, phosphorylation and nuclear translocation.
Letter from China: Understanding the Yangtze's
by Yi Ling and Hou Wenkun WUHAN, May 21 (Xinhua) -- It was not raining and there was no storm. Vitamin D Attenuates Inflammation and Mitochondrial Dysfunction in Experimental Models Relevant to Connective Tissue Disease–Associated Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension
1 Introduction Nutritional status is increasingly recognized as an important determinant of susceptibility to, and progression of, chronic cardiovascular diseases because nutrient availability influences immune regulation and cellular energy metabolism (DeBerge et al. 2023; Thorp and Karlstaedt 2024). Micronutrient deficiencies have been linked to impaired mitochondrial function and disrupted redox balance, processes implicated in chronic cardiovascular disorders (Qiu et al. 2025).
