The Iroquois (Iro/Irx) homeobox genes are conserved Hox targets involved in motor neuron development
Abstract The Iroquois (Iro/Irx) homeobox genes encode transcription factors with fundamental roles in animal development. Despite their link to various congenital conditions in humans, our understanding of Iro/Irx gene expression, function, and regulation remains incomplete. Here, we conducted a systematic expression analysis of all six mouse Irx genes in the embryonic spinal cord.

A Method for Achieving Nanoscale Visual Positioning Measurement Based on Ultra-Precision Machining Microstructures
Abstract : Microscopic visual measurement is one of the main methods used for precision measurements. The observation morphology and image registration algorithm used in the measurement directly affect the accuracy and speed of the measurement. This paper analyzes the influence of morphology on different image registration algorithms through the imaging process of surface morphology and finds that complex morphology has more features, which can improve the accuracy of image registration.
Peripheral macrophages causally contribute to disease onset and progression in the Ndufs4(KO) model of Leigh syndrome
New Results doi: https://doi.org/10.1101/2023.01.27.525842 Abstract Subacute necrotizing encephalopathy, or Leigh syndrome (LS), is the most common paediatric presentation of genetic mitochondrial disease. Biomimetic PLGA Microbubbles Coated with Platelet Membranes for Early Detection of Myocardial Ischaemia-Reperfusion Injury
Early diagnosis of myocardial ischaemia-reperfusion (MI/R) injury is important for protecting the myocardium and improving patient prognoses. Fortunately, the platelet membrane possesses the ability to target the region of MI/R injury. Therefore, we hypothesized that platelet membrane-coated particles (PMPs) could be used to detect early MI/R injury by ultrasound imaging. We designed PMPs with a porous polylactic-co-glycolic acid (PLGA) core coated with a platelet membrane shell.

A defect−driven atomically dispersed Fe−N−C electrocatalyst for bifunctional oxygen electrocatalytic activity in Zn−air battery This work proposes a strategy to synthesize N−doped defective carbon (NDC), followed by trapping FePc precursor.
Making the most of a gap year
As an international student, Rebecca Jin had been considering taking some time away from studying at Syracuse University. When the global pandemic hit this past spring, it was the perfect opportunity. “My family’s financial condition is not well this year,” Jin said. “So I have been talking to my parents about a gap semester for a long time.” The chaotic end to Jin’s spring semester, when COVID-19 first hit, will sound familiar to SU students.
Dual-Template Construction of Iron-Nitrogen-Codoped Hierarchically Porous Carbon Electrocatalyst for Oxygen Reduction Reaction
The oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is identified as a core issue in the technologies for convert energy, especially in proton-exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). Highly reactive, low-cost, and durable electrocatalysts are ideal for the sluggish ORR. Herein, iron–nitrogen codoped hierarchically porous carbon (Fe-N-HPC-0.05) electrocatalytic material was prepared by a dual-template-assisted strategy.
New COVID-19 outbreak linked to off-campus party
In a campus-wide email Tuesday afternoon, Vice Chancellor J. Michael Haynie announced an emerging cluster of 45 positive COVID-19 cases has been detected within the campus area, stemming from an off-campus party in an apartment building on Walnut Avenue late last week. “This emerging cluster is the result of one or more students returning to campus after traveling outside of Central New York to visit another college late last week,” the email stated.
Bioinspired β-glucan microcapsules deliver FK506 to lymph nodes for treatment of cardiac allograft acute rejection
Bioinspired β-glucan microcapsules deliver FK506 to lymph nodes for treatment of cardiac allograft acute rejection Lymph node (LN)-targeted delivery exhibits enormous potential to improve the treatment efficacy of immunosuppressants for transplantation. However, current strategies are still limited by the inefficiency of delivery by passive targeting, the high cost of antibody-mediated active targeting, as well as poor patient compliance by parenteral delivery.

Does baseline LDL-cholesterol predict cardiovascular outcomes in high cardiovascular risk hypertensive patients? Insights from an Asian population
To view the full text, please login as a subscribed user or purchase a subscription. Click here to view the full text on ScienceDirect. In a recent issue of IJC, Nguyen et al. [1] assessed the relation between low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and cardiovascular outcomes in high cardiovascular risk hypertensive patients. They revealed that the relation did not exist in the whole population but showed among patients with a previous cardiovascular disease (CVD) history.
