Reduced NAD+ levels and NAD+/NADH ratio have been observed in experimental models of cardiometabolic diseases and associated with mitochondrial dysfunction. Recent evidence highlights the potential of targeting NAD+ redox, synthesis and consumption, and compartmentalization to develop intervention strategies for cardiometabolic diseases.
