1 Introduction Scientific uncertainties—defined as the subjective experience and awareness of being unsure about using existing scientific understanding to analyze, interpret, explain, evaluate, or predict a phenomenon (Chen et al. 2024; Metz 2004)—play a crucial role in stimulating exploration (Kang et al. 2009; Watkins and Manz 2022) and advancing scientific knowledge (Kampourakis and McCain 2019).

Abstract This paper presents a phenomenon-based teaching approach, termed Student Uncertainty as Pedagogical Resource (SUPeR), designed to help teachers create classroom lessons that leverage the inherent students’ scientific uncertainties within various phenomena.
