Neutrophil-derived apoptotic bodies function as decoy signals to preserve bone integrity during infectious osteomyelitis
Abstract Bone infection represents a pathological intersection of immunity and skeletal remodeling, where inflammatory responses drive excessive bone loss. Neutrophils dominate the early immune infiltration during infection, yet how neutrophil fate within infected bone marrow influences disease progression remains poorly understood. Here, we identify neutrophil-derived apoptotic bodies (Neut-ABs) as key mediators of bone protection during infectious osteomyelitis.
Association of the red blood cell distribution width-to-albumin ratio with subsequent cognitive impairment and adverse cognitive trajectories in older adults
Abstract The red blood cell distribution width-to-albumin ratio (RAR) is an index reflecting inflammatory and nutritional status. While prior studies reported cross-sectional associations between RAR and cognitive performance, its link to future cognitive outcomes has yet to be determined. Our research assessed the longitudinal associations of baseline RAR with subsequent incidence of cognitive impairment and with multi-year trajectories of cognitive change.
Analysis of urban flood resilience evolution characteristics based on the CRITIC-VIKOR integrated model: a case study of urban agglomerations in North China
To enhance urban systems’ capacity to cope with floods, this study examines 46 cities in North China from 2010 to 2023. Based on complex adaptive systems theory, it investigates the dynamic evolution and governance of urban flood resilience. A game-theoretic combination weighting model is developed to improve the adaptability and rationality of indicator weights, and the VIKOR method is used to evaluate resilience within a resistance–adaptation–recovery framework.
