Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is the most severe clinical presentation of coronary artery disease [1,2]. AMI is divided into ST-elevation myocardial infarction (MI) (STEMI) and non-ST-elevation MI [3]. A published study found a 23.3% prevalence of AMI in 19,781 patients with coronary artery disease [4]. More than 3 million people develop STEMI each year, and more than 4 million represent STEMI pathology [3].
