Impaired amyloid-beta uptake and distinct transcriptomic profiles of monocytes in APOE4 carriers: The Chongqing Ageing and Dementia Study
Abstract The ε4 allele of the apolipoprotein E gene (APOE4) is the strongest genetic risk factor for sporadic Alzheimer’s disease (AD). However, its impact on monocyte-mediated amyloid-β (Aβ) clearance and associated immune dysfunction remains poorly understood. Through Aβ uptake assays in humans and mice coupled with transcriptomic profiling, we identified a significant and persistent monocytic Aβ uptake deficiency in APOE4 carriers.
Optimizing aerosol therapy in mechanically ventilated acute respiratory distress syndrome: a delivery-fidelity framework
Abstract Aerosol therapy is frequently used in adults with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) receiving invasive mechanical ventilation, yet its clinical effects remain difficult to interpret because prescribed dose is not equivalent to lung exposure. This Mini Review examines aerosol therapy as a drug-device-circuit-patient intervention by integrating ARDS guideline context, delivery evidence, drug-class literature, and implementation data.
Trajectory of changes in myelin basic protein levels in cerebrospinal fluid during ageing and its association with biomarkers of Alzheimer’s disease - Translational Psychiatry
Abstract Myelin loss has been implicated in the development of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). We investigated the changes in myelin basic protein (MBP) levels in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in an ageing cohort comprising 116 cognitively normal and Aβ-negative controls aged 26 to 82 years, as well as in a clinical cohort.
