1 Introduction Fragile X syndrome (FXS; OMIM#300624) is an X-linked dominant genetic disorder characterized by moderate to severe intellectual disability, macroorchidism, and special facial features, such as long face, large ears and prominent lower jaw. Abnormalities of the FMR1 gene (OMIM#309550) are the primary causes of FXS, and 99% of FXS cases result from the abnormal expansion of CGG repeat of the FMR1 gene. According to the number of repeats, CGG repeat is classified into four categories.
