The Evolution and Development of Integrated Coastal Zone Management in China Since the 1950s
Abstract With the advancement of China’s land–sea coordination strategy, coastal zones, as key interfaces between terrestrial and marine systems, are increasingly confronted with multiple challenges, including intensified development pressures, ecosystem degradation, and fragmented governance. Enhancing the capacity for Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) has therefore become an urgent priority.
Injury-induced niche factors Cxcl12 and Shh/Ihh coordinate suture stem cell activation during calvarial bone regeneration
Editor’s summary Suture stem cells (SuSCs) maintain and repair craniofacial bones. Li et al. investigated the activation and recruitment of SuSCs from the sagittal suture, which extends along the top of the skull, during the repair of cranial bone injuries in mice. Injury induced the production of the stem cell niche factor Cxcl12 at the injury site, which activated its receptor, Cxcr4, on SuSCs to drive their proliferation and recruitment to the injury.
Explicit analysis of magnetotactic bacteria motion reveals the length scaling of magnetic moments
Section snippets Significance Magnetotactic bacteria (MTB) are microorganisms suitable for biomedical and microfluidic applications, since they are controllable with a magnetic field. However, accurately measuring their magnetic moment, a key biophysical property, remains a challenge. We thus introduce a fully automated and rigorous approach to extract magnetic moment from MTB motion in an applied magnetic field.
