Electrical Engineering and Systems Science > Audio and Speech Processing
Emotion prosody perception requires simultaneous processing of acoustic cues and speaker identity. While listeners effortlessly decode natural speech, AI synthetic voices introduce cognitive complexities due to subtle acoustic atypicalities. It remains unclear how these synthetic features interact with a listener's prior social knowledge and memory of a familiar speaker.

Language training relies on a corpus constructed by a large number linguistic materials. AI-powered voice clones provide a way to construct the corpus with relatively low cost. Singing voice conversion (SVC) model is used to generate synthetic voices. This study compares participants' performances on natural and synthetic speech in two experiments, similarity perception and intonation recognition.
BridgeVLA++: A Data-Efficient, Generalizable, and Memory-Augmented Vision-Language-Action Framework for 3D Manipulation
Published on Aug 5 · Submitted by Li Peiyan on Aug 6 Abstract Leveraging pre-trained vision-language models (VLMs) to construct vision-language-action (VLA) models has emerged as a promising paradigm for 3D robot manipulation. However, existing 3D VLA methods remain data-hungry, exhibit limited generalization under distribution shifts, and lack explicit memory of past observations. These limitations hinder their application to data-scarce, open-world, and memory-dependent manipulation scenarios.

Language-guided human following is an important capability for embodied agents, but existing benchmarks typically assume that the target person is visible at the start of an episode. This setting simplifies the problem and overlooks a more realistic requirement: an agent often needs to first find a language-described target and then persistently follow that target in a dynamic environment.

Cryo-EM Structure of the TRPC1/5 Heteromer Enables Design of Antidepressant and Anxiolytic Drug with Reduced Side Effects
|
Abstract The TRPC1/5 heteromer exhibits electrophysiological and ligand-binding properties distinct from TRPC5 homomers, enabling tissue-specific cellular regulation. Here we present the cryo-EM structure of the TRPC1/5 heterotetramer at 2.8 Å resolution, revealing an asymmetric assembly of three TRPC5 subunits around one TRPC1 subunit.

Bacterial Transformation Products from Organophosphate Esters and Their Elevated Environmental Risks in Soil and Groundwater Surrounding a Chemical Industrial Park Click to copy article link Article link copied!
Abstract Click to copy section linkSection link copied! Organophosphate esters (OPEs) are chemicals of emerging concern that pose risks to human and wildlife health. Soil microorganisms transform OPEs into diverse biotransformation products (BTPs), thereby broadening the exposure beyond the parent compounds. Therefore, the biotransformation processes, environmental occurrence, exposure pathways, and toxicities of these products have remained poorly characterized.

The Cryo-EM structure of TRPC1 and TRPC5 heterotetramer
Abstract Ion channel heteromers display distinct electrophysiological and ligand-binding properties, allowing precise modulation of cellular functions in specific tissues. Among the TRPC subtypes, the TRPC1/4/5 heteromers are the most abundant isoform in the human brain and represent a primary target for treating anxiety and depression. However, the structural organization of TRPC1/4/5 heteromers remain unclear, limiting the advancement of research on these channels.

Numerical models under the dynamic load of aircraft are used to analyze the settlement nephogram, time-dependent curve, and settlement curve.
Land | Free Full-Text | How Do Farmers Realize Their Rights on the Collective Land in Rural China? An Explanatory Framework for Deconstructing the Subject of Collective Land Ownership
1. Introduction The land system is the most important arrangement of production relations in a country and the most basic system in all systems [1,2,3]. China is a typical society characterized by a double-track land ownership system, with urban land being owned by the state and rural land owned by the collective, thus forming two institutionally distinctive domains, namely, urban China and rural China.
