Iron concentration induces a biphasic response of glucose biodegradation by marine fungi
Abstract Iron serves as a pivotal biogeochemical nexus linking microbial activity and the carbon cycle, yet its concentration-dependent regulation of dissolved organic matter biodegradation remains poorly understood. Here, we demonstrate a biphasic response of glucose biodegradation by the marine fungus Rhodotorula mucilaginosa to iron concentration through systematic methods, including transcriptomic and stable carbon isotope analyses, combined with morphological characterization.

Self-powered vacuum ultraviolet photodetector based on a BAlN/Si/BAlN double heterojunction
Hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) and Al-doped BxAl1-xN films were grown on Si(100) substrates by means of a radio frequency magnetron sputtering technique. These films have been fabricated into hBN/Si and BAlN/Si heterojunctions, respectively. The heterojunction of hBN/Si exhibited an excellent response to vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) light at 185 nm. By incorporating Al into hBN, the BAlN/Si heterostructure demonstrated a response performance and weak self-powered characteristics.

Simultaneous determination of the oxygen isotope ratio and vola-tile composition of apatite with high lateral resolution via nano-secondary-ion mass spectrometry
Simultaneous determination of the oxygen isotope ratio and vola-tile composition of apatite with high lateral resolution via nano-secondary-ion mass spectrometry Apatite is commonly used as a tracer in Earth and planetary sciences by leveraging its oxygen isotopes and volatile compo-sitions to elucidate the derivation and evolution of magma and geological fluids.

High spatial resolution and precision NanoSIMS for sulfur isotope analysis
High spatial resolution and precision NanoSIMS for sulfur isotope analysis Youwei Chen, Zhoujun Xie, Shaohua Dong, Quanliang Lei and Jianfeng Gao Abstract Nano-scale secondary ion mass spectroscopy (NanoSIMS) is a powerful tool for determining the sulfur isotope composition of micrometer-sized minerals. However, the high spatial resolution of δ34S analysis comes at the expense of accuracy, which limits the applicability of NanoSIMS to sulfur isotope analysis.
Melanocortin Receptor 4 Signaling Regulates Vertebrate Limb Regeneration
Apart from this, we observed that Mc4r is expressed in developing limbs and regenerating limbs of Xenopus tadpoles ( Figures 2 and S2 ). We demonstrate that Mc4r signaling regulates limb regeneration, both in Xenopus tadpoles and in mouse digits. First, in Xenopus, we show that inhibiting Mc4r signaling activity, either by knocking down Mc4r with mc4r-Mo or by overexpression of AgRP that antagonize α-MSH (a derivative of POMC) in binding to Mc4r, causes defective limb regeneration ( Figure 2 ).
