Retentive Network promotes efficient RNA language modeling of long sequences
Abstract The latent features of RNA sequences are crucial for our understanding of their functions. Thus, Transformer-based nucleotide language models have received widespread attention; however, the O(n²) complexity of Transformer limits their ability to process long sequences.
Liquid Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry Analysis of Microwave-Treated Ovalbumin Enzymatic Product: Molecular Weight Gradient Separation of Allergenic Peptide, Cellular Allergenicity Assessment, and Epitope Identification
Abstract Click to copy section linkSection link copied! Combining physical modification with enzymolysis reduces ovalbumin (OVA) allergenicity by disrupting conformational and linear epitopes. Yet hydrolytic-resistant, epitope-containing peptides can retain IgE-binding sites, limiting further decreases in allergenicity. We observed an inverse relation between peptide molecular weight and allergenicity.

T4SEpp: a pipeline integrated with protein language models effectively predicting bacterial type IV secreted effectors
Abstract Many pathogenic bacteria use type IV secretion systems(T4SSs) to deliver effectors (T4SEs) into the cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells, causeing diseases. The identification of effectors is a crucial step in understanding the mechanisms of bacterial pathogenicity, but this remains a major challenge. In this study, we used the full-length embedding features generated by six pre-trained protein language models to train classifiers predicting T4SEs, and compared their performance.

Emulsion Properties during Microencapsulation of Cannabis Oil Based on Protein and Sucrose Esters as Emulsifiers: Stability and Rheological Behavior
Abstract : The effects of different emulsifiers, such as soy protein isolate–sucrose ester (SPI-SE) and whey protein isolate–sucrose ester (WPI-SE), on the properties of the emulsion during the microencapsulation of cannabis oil were studied. The influence of SE concentration on the emulsion properties of the two emulsifying systems was analyzed. The results of the adsorption kinetics show that SE can decrease the interfacial tension, particle size and zeta potential of the emulsions.
Application of capsaicin as a potential new therapeutic drug in human cancers
Abstract What is known and objective Capsaicin, the major active ingredient of chili pepper, may play a “dual role” in tumourigenesis, acting as a carcinogen or as a cancer preventive agent. The aim of this study was to investigate the anticancer mechanisms of capsaicin and the effects of capsaicin on traditional chemotherapeutic drugs and radiotherapy in various cancer types and the potential for clinical application in cancer therapy.
Evolution and Sequence Diversity of FhuA in Salmonella and Escherichia
ABSTRACTThe fhuACDB operon, present in a number of Enterobacteriaceae, encodes components essential for the uptake of ferric hydroxamate type siderophores. FhuA acts not only as a transporter for physiologically important chelated ferric iron but also as a receptor for various bacteriophages, toxins, and antibiotics, which are pathogenic to bacterial cells.
A Spin Column-Free Approach to Sodium Hydroxide-Based Glycan Permethylation
Glycan permethylation was introduced as a tool to facilitate the study of glycans in 1903. Since that time, permethylation procedures have been continually modified to improve permethylation efficiency and qualitative applicability. Typically, however, either laborious preparation steps or cumbersome and uneconomical spin columns have been needed to obtain decent permethylation yields on small glycan samples.
