HOUSTON — The Houston Texans have helped grow girls flag football across Texas, and supporters hope the sport is now close to becoming an officially sanctioned UIL sport. Through the Texans' "She's Next" girls flag football initiative, participation has grown from 18 teams three years ago to 152 teams in the Houston area this year. ARLINGTON, Texas — The Houston Astros added another historic chapter to the franchise record books Monday night, throwing a combined no-hitter against the Texas Rangers. Starter Tatsuya Imai pitched six innings before Steven Okert worked the seventh. Alimber Santa closed out the game in the final inning to secure the combined no-hitter for Houston. But across the city, the game is evolving, moving beyond traditional fairways and into a high-tech, indoor experience. If it looks like golf, sounds like golf and plays like golf, but all within a few hundred square feet. It may be more than just a round. It could be a glimpse into the sport’s future.
