Commanders' Zane Gonzalez extension shouldn't prevent kicking competition in 2025 Original
Zane Gonzalez is back... Adam Peters has a significant amount of hard work ahead in the coming days. The Washington Commanders have a plethora of free agents to decide upon before the legal tampering window opens. And the first domino has fallen. Considering how well the Commanders performed in 2024, they are going to be a coveted destination. Assistant general manager Lance Newmark revealed at the NFL Scouting Combine that there's also a need to maintain continuity.
Commanders kicker Zane Gonzalez sheds light on OCD after game-winning field goal
The Washington Commanders won their Wild Card game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by the skin of their teeth. Or, more accurately, by the foot of their kicker, Zane Gonzalez. In the final seconds of the 20-20 tied game, Gonzalez kicked a 37-yard field goal that doinked off the upright before soaring through the goal posts to put the score at 23-20 just as time expired, and the Commanders won their first playoff game since 2005.
2022 Fantasy Football Player Profile: Evan Engram - The Man, The Myth, The Legend
Here it is folks! The fantasy football article that no one asked for. In fact, some of my Twitter followers actively ask me to shut up about Evan Engram, the Jacksonville Jaguars' new tight end. But guess what? I recently realized that I’ve never actually written a full article on Engram and his fantasy football draft value for the upcoming 2022 NFL season.

Published: Dec 13, 2020 Welcome to the Sunday Night Showdown Slate for NFL Week 14! Before we start, please allow me to reiterate that while we all love having a little skin in the game, these showdown slates are basically lottery tickets. Sure, there are times when the chalk hits and everyone shares in the prizes, but more often than not, you need that random, differentiate yourself from the herd dart-throw to hit in order to claim that top prize. As a result, we encourage to play responsibly.
NFL Target Analysis: Week 9
Published: Nov 12, 2020 One of the things I have learned from writing this article over the years is that when the targets do not match the production, trust the targets. There are obviously exceptions, like when the targets are coming from Nick Foles , but in general guys receivers struggle to produce consistently on only a handful of targets per week. On the other hand, where the targets go, fantasy production usually follows.

NFL Red Zone Report: Week 3
Published: Sep 27, 2019 We’re heading into the first Sunday of the season with bye weeks but before that happens it’s important to look back at what happened this past week in terms of scoring chances inside the 20 and the 10-yard lines and how defenses held up as we are nearly to the quarter pole of the 2019 campaign. This week was one of the busiest Red Zone weeks across the board and there’s a lot to talk about.

2019 NFL Draft Guide: Red Zone Consistency
Every time one of the analysts here at Fantasy Alarm signs off from a video or a podcast or a live stream we all say something to the effect of, “we hope to see you in the green.” Green representing in the money in the DFS contests or on the winning side of the ledger in season-long match-ups. We all know green is the color of money and making money is good, in fact, that’s the point of a lot of fantasy leagues in general and football leagues specifically.
2019 NFL Draft Guide: When to Draft a Defense
Published: Jul 10, 2019 Defenses are great and for all those truthers that say it wins championships, sure, but this is Fantasy Football. Not reality. Because of that, when should you look to draft defenses? What should you look for when you do seek a defense in your draft? When we do a deep dive into the numbers, only two defensive units have scored north of 180 fantasy points during a season since 2008.
2019 NFL Draft Guide: How to Draft in Dynasty Leagues
Published: Jun 25, 2019 No league format has grown more over the past few years than dynasty leagues. An argument can be made for best ball as well, but there has been an explosion of dynasty leagues, sites, and folks on Twitter all of a sudden. To me, dynasty is one of the more fun and challenging formats, as you have to try to balance winning this year, as well as the future.

NFL Fantasy Football Red Zone Report: Week 14
Published: Dec 13, 2018 Paying attention to who is getting targeted and/or getting carries in the red zone and down near the goal line are both very important in all fantasy formats. Touchdowns are major point boosters in PPR leagues and even more so in standard. The weekly report will be a one-stop shop where you can find all the information you could possibly need when it comes to the red zone. Each week I will point out some notable performances for that week and then include season totals.
Fantasy Football IDP Report: Week 12
Time to celebrate the conclusion of the bye weeks and the confusion it brings to setting fantasy lineups and stocking rosters with sufficient talent to prevail in your matchups. Not a ton of rising players to consider this week, but there are options in each of the IDP categories that fantasy owners are concerned with filling.
Los Angeles Rams jump to number one in NFL power rankings heading into Week 3
With Week 2 of the season in the books, we’re starting to get a clearer look at the league. After holding the top spot last week, the New England Patriots were knocked off their perch by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC Championship Game. The Los Angeles Rams, meanwhile, continued to take care of their business with another dominant win. In every facet, the Rams are looking like world-beaters and every bit worth the ‘super team’ tag they were bestowed after a busy offseason.

2018 NFL Draft Guide: Stats You Need to Know - NFC East
Published: Aug 23, 2018 The Philadelphia Eagles are the Super Bowl Champions, so clearly there is a target on their back. The Giants think they can make another run with Eli Manning at the helm (and as long as they are supported by a sturdy ground game). Washington was riding high, until their newest potential star tore an ACL. And then there are the Cowboys… At FA Nation there are A LOT of Cowboys fans, so I’ll skip the commentary and let the stats speak for themselves.
2017-18 Fantasy Football Injury Report: January 12
Welcome to the best weekend of football all season as we approach the Divisional Round of the playoffs. 2017 Fantasy Football IDP Report: Week 3
There are not nearly as many IDP that you might want to add to your roster this week as there were in the Week 2 IDP Report, but there are some players with significant upside going forward. On the plus side, there are few IDP that are in a downward spiral at this point in the season. Of course, there are injuries to be concerned over, as there always are.

2016 NFL Fantasy Football Game Recaps: Week 7
Welcome to the 2016 Fantasy Alarm Fantasy Football Game Recaps! Nobody watches more NFL football than yours truly mostly because it is impossible to do so. Each week I’ll open my notepad to all our Fantasy Alarm readers so that you guys can go beyond the boxscore to get the information you need to win your league. 2016 NFL WR/CB Match-Ups: Week 4
So last week my picks finished over .500 again. Julio Jones was obviously my biggest swing and miss. However, Odell Beckham, Mike Evans, and Tyrell Williams made me look smart. Week 4 is one in which the battle of attrition is beginning to develop, as plenty of wide receivers and cornerbacks alike are playing through pain and some even injury.
D/ST Strategies | Fantasy Alarm
As the fantasy season quickly approaches and we are all working on our draft strategies, an often overlooked position is the Defense/Special Teams (DST). DST’s are often one of the final few picks for each fantasy player as skill position players and fantasy benches are certainly more important.
2016 NFL Coaching Breakdowns
Every year I say it and every year I am flabbergasted by the lack of attention and notice that head coaches, coordinators and offensive and defensive systems get amongst fantasy football players. I will put it to you this way: Look at an NFL Team as you would a movie. A movie could have every famous actor and actress that you could imagine, but if the script is a piece of garbage then so too is that movie. Every team in the NFL uses a script. It is called a playbook.
Target Watch: Digging Deep
Now that we’re here in Week 14, everyone should be in full-on playoff mode and if this week can come close to matching Week 13 in scoring, then this is going to be one exciting fantasy playoff round. We had some crazy high-scoring games to enjoy, a number of final-drive wins and a splash overtime which always keeps fantasy owners on edge. And with all of that, we saw 26 players with double-digit targets and 16 with 100 or more receiving yards. It was a points bonanza, particularly in PPR play.
Right, Wrong Or Indifferent?: Lessons From Week 6
Another week means another opportunity to sit in judgment of Jeff Mans! I have poured over Jeff’s rankings and opinions and well, let us see how he did. Oh, and as usual, I will pepper this piece with a few of my own masterpieces and pieces of [use a word for dung] from the past week.
In The Trenches: Numbers to Know, Week 5 - 2015

Aaron Rodgers is second with 123 passes without a pick. Andrew Luck has thrown seven picks on 116 passes. Drew Brees threw for 359 passing yards last week and 236 of those yards were racked up after the catch.
The Week That Was Football: The Injuries From Week 12
The Week That Was Football: The Injuries From Week 12 Big name injuries highlight this week’s Football Week That Was. For 2014, The Week that Was: NFL will focus on injuries and their effects. C.J. Anderson: Ronnie Hillman out. Montee Ball out. Worry? No. C.J. Anderson took the reins and he may never look back. C.J. put up 195 yards of total offense, got into the end zone once and might have a second time but did the right thing and took a knee to run out the clock.
NFL Trade Show: Wk.9
Each week Ray Flowers will give his thoughts on a serious of fantasy football players. Should you hold on to the guy? Should you be moving on from the player? Is his recent run of success sustainable? Why does he stink so bad – will he rebound? Ray will break it all down before rendering his verdict on the players: Bernard, Cameron, Crowell, Donnell, Griffin, Jennings, Nicks, Peerman, Roethlisberger, Tate, Vick, Wayne, Wheaton, Hill, West, Moncrief and Bryant .
