Whole-Exome Sequencing Reveals the Genetic Landscape and Genotype–Phenotype Spectrum of Dystonia in a Chinese Cohort
1 Introduction Dystonia is a clinically and genetically heterogeneous movement disorder characterized by sustained or intermittent abnormal movements, postures, or both, which are typically patterned and repetitive and may be tremulous or jerky [1]. Its phenotypic spectrum ranges from focal manifestations, such as neck, eye, limb, or craniofacial involvement, to generalized forms that may include dysphagia or speech deficits [2, 3].
Monitoring and prediction of land use changes along expressways based on random forest and CA-Markov models: a case study of the Rongwu Expressway
Abstract To address the challenge of accurately capturing small-scale land use changes induced by highway construction, this study integrates the Random Forest algorithm with the CA-Markov model to conduct a fine-scale monitoring and simulation analysis. Focusing on the reconstruction and expansion section of the Rongwu Expressway (Yantai-Penglai segment) in Shandong Province, we utilized high-resolution Sentinel-2 remote sensing imagery to classify land use changes from 2020 to 2025.
Identifying predictor factors for asthma using machine learning: evidence from the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing
Background Asthma is a common chronic inflammatory airway disease. Accumulating evidence highlights the roles of demographic, lifestyle, and comorbidity factors in the risk of asthma. This study aimed to identify predictor factors of asthma using machine learning approaches. Methods Data were obtained from the 10th wave (2021–2023) of the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing (ELSA). Participants aged ≥ 50 years with complete information on asthma status and relevant variables were included.

Computer Science > Computation and Language
As Large Language Models (LLMs) are increasingly deployed to serve open-ended, multi-turn interactions, evaluating conversational quality at human scale has become a central challenge. Existing evaluation frameworks built for summarization, translation, or short-form QA tasks fall short of adequately measuring the consistency of human-scale dialogue, especially when derivation and validation of these metrics themselves often rely on synthetic rather than human sources.
Thermal runaway-free ampere-hour-level Na-ion battery via polymerizable non-flammable electrolyte
Abstract Safety is the most basic requirement for the application of rechargeable batteries in large-scale energy storage. Despite extensive efforts in developing non-flammable electrolytes, the elimination of thermal runaway in ampere-hour-level cells remains unachieved, while the correlation between electrolyte flame retardancy and battery safety is still unclear.
Durable alloy anode for Na-ion batteries with high volumetric energy density
Abstract Alloy anodes can offer high energy densities of Na-ion batteries (NIBs) but suffer from poor cycling performance. Conventional strategies to mitigate the volume expansion often sacrifice the capacity delivery and material scalability, while the underlying mechanisms governing the cycling stability and practical applicability remain unrevealed.
Effects of aerobic exercise on cognitive function in older adults with mild cognitive impairment: a systematic review and meta-analysis
1Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital, the Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University Medical School, Nanjing, Jiangsu, China 2Xiangya School of Nursing of Central South University, Changsha, Hunan, China Background: Regular exercise may boost cognition in older adults with MCI, but the effectiveness of different aerobic exercise (AE) modalities is unclear. We conducted a meta-analysis to assess AE’s impact on cognition in this group.
Molecular-dynamics-simulation-guided directed evolution of flavoenzymes for atroposelective desaturation - Nature Synthesis
Abstract Atropisomerism confers unique properties and functions to natural products and synthetic compounds. Recently, biocatalytic approaches for the synthesis of axially chiral molecules have received increased attention due to their ability to achieve exquisite stereocontrol using genetically adaptable catalysts. Here we report the development of an atroposelective desaturation process capable of producing non-C2-symmetric biaryls via dynamic kinetic resolution using biocatalysis.

Resolution enhancement of total internal reflection microscopy via polarised scattering
This paper presents a novel approach for enhancing the resolution of label-free total internal reflection microscopy. This method leverages the directional difference of the sample polar scattering by capturing microscopic images under the illumination of evanescent waves propagating in various directions.

Viscoelastic behavior of wormlike micellar solutions formed by an aspartame-based bicephalous anionic surfactant
Viscoelastic behavior of wormlike micellar solutions formed by an aspartame-based bicephalous anionic surfactant Innovation in the molecular design of surfactants holds great potential for developing novel soft materials with unique properties. A surfactant with a long alkyl tail is expected to form giant aggregates with intriguing behavior. However, the molecules with a large hydrophobic group often suffer from poor solubility in solutions, inhibiting the aggregation process.
