Photocatalytic Synthesis of 2-Oxabicyclo[2.1.1]hexanes: Cobalt-Enhanced Efficiency Development of new synthetic strategies in the synthesis of preparing C(sp3)-rich arene bioisosteres, especially their heteroatom incorporated analogs are less explored, but highly in demand. Here we report a photocatalytic [2π+2σ] cycloaddition reaction between bicyclo[1.1.0]butanes and aldehydes enabled by cobalt under visible light irradiation.

(1) Radical chemistry has emerged as a pivotal synthetic tool for swiftly achieving these goals, owing to the high reactivity of radical species. (2) Carbonyl functional groups, including aldehydes and ketones, are fundamental in synthetic chemistry and are widely utilized in numerous classic transformations.
