Visual Perception: Insights into perceptual learning

Practice makes perfect in many areas of life – including our visual system. When people repeatedly perform a visual task, such as identifying patterns or shapes, they typically become better at it over time (Dosher and Lu, 2020). These lasting improvements are known as perceptual learning. Perceptual learning is often highly specific, with improvements being tied to a particular stimulus or the area of the visual field where the training occurred.

Reduced contrast sensitivity function and outer retina thickness in convalescent Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada disease - Eye

Abstract To evaluate contrast sensitivity function (CSF) in convalescent Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada (VKH) disease and investigate the relationship between CSF and chorioretinal thickness in VKH patients with and without sunset glow fundus (SGF). This is a cross-sectional study. Seventy-six eyes of VKH patients and 56 eyes of normal controls were evaluated. Patients were divided into SGF and non-SGF groups. The best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) of all the participants was ≤0.0 logMAR.

qPRF: A system to accelerate population receptive field decoding

Abstract Patterns of BOLD response can be decoded using the population receptive field (PRF) model to reveal how visual input is represented on the cortex (Dumoulin and Wandell, 2008). The time cost of evaluating the PRF model is high, often requiring days to decode BOLD signals for a small cohort of subjects.
