Abstract The superfamily Scarabaeoidae is a species-rich and diverse group within the order Coleoptera. The members of this taxon are of interest due to the diversity of their feeding and mating behaviour, and their ecological importance. Despite the size of the superfamily, only a few genomes have been published, leaving a large gap in our understanding of the evolution of these beetles.

Most of these free-moving arachnids actively hunt (Ruhland, Pétillon, et al., 2016) instead of adopting sit-and-wait strategies of burrow-dwelling and orb-weaver spiders.

Abstract Studying animal societies needs detailed observation of many individuals, but technological advances offer new opportunities in this field. Here, we present a state-of-the-art drone observation of a multilevel herd of Przewalski’s horses, consisting of harems (one-male, multifemale groups).
