THE Ministry of Tourism has disclosed that 36 people have died from hippo attacks in 2025. The Ministry says many of the deaths occurred when individuals deliberately provoked or approached wild animals. In a statement issued by the Ministry Public Relations Unit following a video which was circulating on social media in which children were seen harassing and chasing a hippopotamus in the water, the Ministry condemned the act by the children, describing the behaviour as reckless and dangerous.

WE have found it hard to move passed the remarks made by PF secretary general Davies Mwila’s who says that Mr Given Lubinda’s is a white man and cannot be President of Zambia. Those remarks are dangerously divisive. For a senior political figure who once worked closely with Mr Lubinda under two different administrations, it is astonishing that Mr Mwila has suddenly discovered Mr Lubinda’s “skin tone” as a political concern.
