Abstract Here we present results from an experiment performed at the GSI Helmholtz Center for Heavy Ion Research. A mono-energetic beam of chromium ions with initial energies of ~ 450 MeV was fired through a magnetized interaction region formed by the collision of two counter-propagating laser-ablated plasma jets. While laser interferometry revealed the absence of strong fluid-scale turbulence, acceleration and diffusion of the beam ions was driven by wave-particle interactions.

Insensitivity of a turbulent laser-plasma dynamo to initial conditions
In the experiments described above, we found that using the MIFEDS to introduce a magnetic seed field (B0 ≈ 60 kG) into a turbulent, Rm-supercritical laser-plasma that is six times larger than the inherent seed field self-generated by the Biermann battery does not lead to larger values of Brms post-amplification. Instead, the same value is measured in both MIFEDS and no-MIFEDS experiments (Brms ≈ 100 kG; Sec. III C).

Glutaraldehyde modification, used in this report, targets free amino groups of amino acid side chains (e.g. lysine) and the reduction in primary amines present in allergoid preparations is used as an indicator of the degree of modification [17].

Hospitalised and community dwelling older people (aged 65 years and over) have difficulties opening certain food and beverage items (e.g. cheese portions and tetra packs) served in public hospitals. Previously, the role of hand strength on successful pack opening has been explored in a seated position. However, because many people in hospital eat in bed, the present laboratory study examined the differences between participants opening a selection of products in a hospital bed and a chair.
