Enhancing bosonic qubit protection by squeezing
Abstract Bosonic qubits implement error correction by harnessing the high-dimensional Hilbert space of a harmonic oscillator to redundantly encode logical quantum information. Squeezing of quantum states — a cornerstone of precision metrology — redistributes uncertainty between conjugate quadratures to enhance sensitivity in one variable at the expense of the other.
Field-induced condensation of π to 2 π soliton lattices in chiral magnets
Abstract Chiral soliton lattices (CSLs) emerge from the competition between Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction, anisotropy, and magnetic fields. While well established in monoaxial helimagnets, their role in materials with anisotropic, direction-dependent chirality remains poorly understood.
Investigations Into the Metabolism and Elimination of Tesofensine in Human Urine
1 Introduction Tesofensine (1R,2R,3S,5S)-3-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-2-(ethoxymethyl)-8-methyl-8-azabicyclo[3.2.1]octane; NS-2330—shown in Figure 1—is a centrally acting triple monoamine reuptake inhibitor that blocks the presynaptic reuptake of dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin [1, 2].

First Signs That National Cropland Organic Carbon Loss Is Reversing in British Topsoils
First sign that national trends of cropland SOC loss (11% from 1978 to 2007) have reversed in GB topsoils. Monitored SOC stocks increased by 0.34% annually (0.17 t ha−1 year−1) from 2007 to present. SOC recovery coincides with a period of sustainable management uptake in the UK. The result suggests that management can reverse SOC loss from topsoils in practice at scale.
Only 25% of moms in US report 'excellent' mental health, marking an alarming decline Original
Experts warn that worsening maternal mental health can have a ripple effect. ByA. Taylor Thomas, MD, MPH A growing number of mothers are struggling with their mental and physical health, according to a new study. The study, published Tuesday in JAMA Internal Medicine, surveyed 189,417 mothers from 2016 to 2023. The findings show a sharp drop in maternal mental health, with only 25.8% reporting “excellent” mental health in 2023, down from 38.4% in 2016.

Rupture of rubber. I. Characteristic energy for tearing
Article Abstract A criterion for tearing of test-pieces cut from thin sheets of a natural rubber vulcanizate, similar in form to the Griffith criterion for spreading of a crack, is formulated. This criterion involves a characteristic energy for tearing which is independent of the shape of the test-piece and of the disposition of the cut.

The impact of home enteral feeding on the daily lives of people with head and neck cancer: a metasynthesis of qualitative studies
Background Home enteral feeding (HEF) may have a wider impact on peoples' daily lives beyond influencing their nutritional and clinical status. This metasynthesis aimed to determine the impact of HEF on peoples' daily lives. Methods Qualitative studies were included with adults, who had been diagnosed with head and neck cancer and had finished their cancer treatment, with a feeding tube in place. Medline, PubMed and Cinahl were searched (August 2009 to August 2019).

Aspirin and the prevention of venous thromboembolism following total joint arthroplasty
The number of arthroplasties increases each year.1 Patients undergoing an arthroplasty are at risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) including deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE).2 In the absence of prophylaxis, VTE may occur in more than 35% of patients undergoing an arthroplasty.

(1) Important changes may occur in the lungs as a result of exposure to explosions. (2) The extent of the damage is more readily estimated by radiological than by clinical methods. (3) The damage is indicated by varying degrees of loss of translucency, accompanied by diminution of the inter-costal spaces posteriorly and widening of these spaces anteriorly. (4) Adequate skiagrams are difficult to obtain, so that special care is necessary in their interpretation.

Aspirin and the prevention of venous thromboembolism following total joint arthroplasty
AbstractThe number of arthroplasties being performed increases each year. Patients undergoing an arthroplasty are at risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) and appropriate prophylaxis has been recommended. However, the optimal protocol and the best agent to minimise VTE under these circumstances are not known. Although many agents may be used, there is a difference in their efficacy and the risk of bleeding.
Using low frequency earthquake families on the San Andreas fault as deep creepmeters
The central section of the San Andreas fault hosts tectonic tremor and low-frequency earthquakes (LFEs) similar to subduction zone environments. LFEs are often interpreted as persistent regions that repeatedly fail during the aseismic shear of the surrounding fault allowing them to be used as creepmeters.
Anti-leukaemic activity of the TYK2 selective inhibitor NDI-031301 in T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia
Activation of tyrosine kinase 2 (TYK2) contributes to the aberrant survival of T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (T-ALL) cells. Here we demonstrate the anti-leukaemic activity of a novel TYK2 inhibitor, NDI-031301. NDI-031301 is a potent and selective inhibitor of TYK2 that induced robust growth inhibition of human T-ALL cell lines. NDI-031301 treatment of human T-ALL cell lines resulted in induction of apoptosis that was not observed with the JAK inhibitors tofacitinib and baricitinib.
On corner frequencies, attenuation and low-frequency earthquakes
We have recently suggested that the nearly constant duration of low frequency earthquakes (LFEs) (and, equivalently, the band-limitation of tectonic tremor) manifests a moment-duration scaling that is fundamentally different from regular earthquakes and is most easily explained as rupture on asperities of roughly constant dimension. In that work, we employed qualitative arguments against potential bias by attenuation.

Oxaliplatin and 5-FU/folinic acid (modified FOLFOX6) with or without aflibercept in first-line treatment of patients with metastatic colorectal cancer: the AFFIRM study
Background The combination of aflibercept with FOLFIRI has been shown to significantly prolong overall survival in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) after progression on oxaliplatin-based therapy. This trial evaluated the addition of aflibercept to oxaliplatin-based first-line treatment of patients with mCRC. Patients and methods Patients with mCRC were randomized to receive first-line therapy with mFOLFOX6 plus aflibercept (4 mg/kg) or mFOLFOX6 alone.
