Having determined that R. pumilio light preference follows a circadian rhythm, we next asked whether it feeds back to influence the circadian clock by defining circadian parameters. We adapted the home-cage platform paradigm to ensure light was an active choice by making the default condition darkness (the “active” platform triggered light for 1 min, and the other platform was left “inactive”). This paradigm was used for all subsequent experiments.
