How is social media changing news?

Journalists are now face to face with their audience. It means we get a better idea about the people who watch, listen to or read our work.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Apart from the myriad social media and encrypted messaging apps, I spend a lot of time using Microsoft Excel and data scrapers.

Why did you become a journalist?

Initially because of a love of words. Now it's more because I love telling other peoples' stories and uncovering the stories that matter.

What's your favorite drink?

I'm a craft beer snob. But during business hours I'll settle for a flat white.
