View as a gridJacksonville Jaguars could shock wide open AFC South

Over the last decade has there been a more depressing franchise than the Jacksonville Jaguars? You might say the Browns, but at least Cleveland's perpetual failure has a sense of tragedy about it as well as spawning the frankly awesome "You are a factory of sadness!" quote. The Jaguars meanwhile haven't really done much of anything. The franchises biggest contribution to the NFL in recent years is probably Blaine Gabbert's ill advised theme song. All this could be about to change in 2014 though. The Jaguars are a team on an upward curve just as the rest of the division is either stalling or a downward curve.
11 Premier League players poised to become superstars

With the start of the Premier League season now less than two weeks away much of the hype and talk around the Premier League centres around the big stars like Yaya Toure, Wayne Rooney and Eden Hazard. Often though the most interesting stories don't come from the big named stars but from smaller less known players, like Michu two seasons ago, who emerge from obscurity to make names for themselves. More than ever making cut-price likes moves of that nature work can be the difference between relegation and mid-table anonymity, particularly the dramatic improvement in performances from Crystal Palace a prime example.
NFL predictions: Dallas Cowboys 2014 expectations

After going 8 and 8 for the third season in a row and missing out on the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season the Cowboys find themselves in an odd position. They still get tons of media coverage but expectations have probably never been lower. Will less pressure result lead to a Cowboy's resurgence though? Key Man - Tony Romo It might be a bit obvious to select Romo. The quarterback is after all the key position in any team. Romo however, is more crucial to the Cowboys chance of success then almost any other player.
Blaine Gabbert will be cut by 49ers before the season starts

The role of backup quarterback is one the most bizarre not just in football but in professional sports as a whole. The backup quarterback is both simultaneously an after thought and crucially important. If things go right a team's number two quarterback will never take a meaningful snap all season. Equally, though one freak injury or sudden loss of form and the after thought is pitched into the maelstrom of being a starting NFL quarterback. Smart teams then make sure they have somebody decent on the quarterback depth chart. Nobody wants to be relying on Blaine Gabbert when the proverbial hits the fan.
NFL Predictions: Mark Sanchez will become the Eagles starter

In one of the more interesting but less talked about moves of the offseason was Mark Sanchez's move from the New York Jets to the Philadelphia Eagles where he is slated to be Nick Foles backup. Sanchez is without doubt one of the best backup quarterbacks in the NFL in fact he is so good that eventually he could find himself is the starter ahead of Nick Foles. Here's why? Nick Foles overhyped Nick Foles had an amazing 2013 season as he led an Eagles offense that became if not the best then one of the top two or three offenses in the league.

Manchester United would have been better off losing

Last night David Moyes' Manchester United pulled off what will be remembered asone of Old Trafford's great European comebacks. After a 2-0 defeat in the first leg, the Red Devils came back to beat the Greek champions Olympiakos 3-0. It would have been far better for Manchester United in the long run if they hadn'tqualified, in my opinion. This might seem at first to be pointless contrarism but it isn't. Victory over Olympiacos will just delay the start of the needed rebuilding process. It would be different if the performance last night had been truly impressive but this wasn't the case.
