The NAACP has reignited a landmark lawsuit over pandemic-era mail-in ballot handling in an effort to prevent the Trump administration from altering rules that could impact how millions of voters cast their ballots. On Tuesday the US Postal Service filed a proposed rule that would require lists of verified ballot mailers and recipients and compel states use uniform ballot envelopes.

NJ Sues GEO Group to Probe Delaney Hall Migrant Conditions Original

New Jersey health inspectors must be given access to Delaney Hall, the state argued in a lawsuit filed Tuesday that could empower a probe into how migrants are treated in the Newark private detention facility. The center, run by under contract for US Immigration and Customs enforcement, has come under intense scrutiny in recent weeks. Federal, state, and local officials have imposed curfews, set up barricaded protest zones, and arrested individuals who have assaulted law enforcement.
