What was your first job as a journalist?

If student journalism counts, then Content Editor at my high school paper — basically copy chief. If it doesn't… I'm still looking.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Cara Landry showed my fourth-grade self that student journalism can have power.

What's your favorite social network?

Twitter is definitely one of the social networks out there.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

What's your favorite drink?

Hot coffee: cortado with oat milk. Cold coffee: cold brew, black. Soft drink: ginger beer. Cocktail: Moscow mule.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

Despite people's first thoughts, it's not just climate.
