Alexandra Tey is the media research intern at the Center for Biological Diversity, a national conservation nonprofit devoted to the defense of biodiversity.

Alex's work as a freelance journalist covering human and natural environments has appeared in outlets like the New York Times, Slate, and Curbed. She previously interned at Audubon, the magazine of the National Audubon Society. At New York University, she was the editor-in-chief of the Washington Square News.

What was your first job as a journalist?

If student journalism counts, then Content Editor at my high school paper — basically copy chief. If it doesn't… I'm still looking.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Cara Landry showed my fourth-grade self that student journalism can have power.

What's your favorite social network?

Twitter is definitely one of the social networks out there.
