1 Introduction When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, scholars were eager to find out if the massive disruptions to employment and caregiving arrangements would lead to changes in the gendered division of household labour. With widespread school closures and interruptions to care arrangements early in the pandemic, demands for parental caregiving increased. Many were concerned that such demands would fall most heavily on mothers’ shoulders, reversing the slow progress made towards domestic gender equity.
