Anemia and risk of dementia in the general population: a propensity-score based cohort study

Abstract An elevated risk of dementia among anemic population has been reported in previous studies. However, measurement on the risk of individual subtypes of dementia has been limited. We aimed to quantify risk of dementia and its subtypes in the general population with anemia, using Korean National Health Insurance Service data linked to biennial national health check-ups.

Risk of dementia after initiation of sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors versus dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors in adults aged 40-69 years with type 2 diabetes: population based cohort study

Discussion This large population based cohort study among adults aged 40-69 years with type 2 diabetes found a 35% reduced risk of dementia associated with use of SGLT-2 inhibitors compared with DPP-4 inhibitors. This finding persisted regardless of dementia type and across subgroups of populations with diverse characteristics. Highly consistent results over a range of secondary and sensitivity analyses supported the robustness of our study findings.
