1. Introduction The electrification of aircraft, as a necessary response to the impact of aviation on global warming, follows two parallel paths, the first of which is based on the replacement of non-propulsive subsystems now driven by mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic energy with more efficient electrical subsystems. The second path is intended to replace internal combustion engine (ICE) propulsion systems with hybrid and hopefully all-electric propulsion.
