This morning I joined April Ryan for Coffee with the Contrarians. We discussed the day’s news—there was a deluge over the weekend, including an appellate court that pumped the brakes on Trump’s ballroom project—and ended with a little history of the abolitionists and Martha’s Vineyard, since April is technically on vacation. This was my first Substack Live from a car, but Bob let me know last night it was time for us to pick up our dogs, who’d been off for a little training.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

It's about maintaining trust within the community and providing a clear, resounding voice on the topics which are often neglected.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

I am quite happy to be pitched on stories.

Why did you become a journalist?

I recognised there was a need for accurate representation within my community, where many locals feel there is little media representation.
