How Albania became Europe's railway blind spot

Albania’s railway network – largely a product of post-war socialist industrialisation – remains isolated from the rest of Europe. The European Union and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have committed over €120 million in grants and loans to help modernise the line. This should help the Western Balkans boost its green transport infrastructure. But there is a massive gap between high-level funding announcements in Brussels and the stagnant reality on the ground.

It aims at honouring the work carried out by investigative journalists and their contribution to investigative reporting despite the difficult conditions under which they often have to operate. Organised in cooperation with SEEMO, the CEI Secretariat is in charge of the overall coordination.
