France recorded 1,320 antisemitic acts in 2025 (two-thirds aimed at people, with violence above the 2024 level), and a suspected plot against a synagogue now sits in a terrorism file. Read together, those records trace a targeting environment, not only a prejudice problem. In July 2026, French authorities detained six men in connection with a suspected plot targeting a synagogue in Sarcelles, a Paris suburb with a large Jewish population.

Masar Badil was sanctioned last month by the U.S. Treasury Department under its counterterrorism authorities. The transnational movement has pledged to build “Palestine Centers” around the world as part of its anti-Zionist and anti-imperialist political campaign. And in the southern suburbs of Beirut, it appears to be getting down to work. This summer, The Palestine International Center was opened in Lebanon’s Bourj al Barajneh camp, which has housed Palestinian refugees since 1948.
