Interview

What was your first job as a journalist?

I was an intern for the Raleigh News and Observer

How is social media changing news?

Social media reduced our attention spans and made articles a bad way of breaking news.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Just write. Write as much as you can, as frequently as you can, about whatever you can — and have fun doing it.

When's the best time to pitch you?

In the a.m.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

On a walk or sitting on an organ bench. I also teach piano and a children's choir for fun.
