Born in San Jose, California, A.V. Eichenbaum has been part of the workforce since the age of 7, when they worked odd jobs for their grandparents' various businesses.

Eichenbaum started their journalism career at The Gavilan Press in 2009, age 14, working the local news and politics beat, and working both in front of and behind the camera covering sports for Gilroy's Channel 19.

During the remainder of their high school career, Eichenbaum worked as a freelance writer and door-to-door security…

What was your first job as a journalist?

Worked at a college paper. I was 14.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

I used to own an old electric typewriter that'd been decommissioned from the CA Bar Exam. I like the way it feels, but I hate the noise.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Peter Parker and Clark Kent used to be high on that list. When I became an editor, though, that spot was taken by Lois Lane.
