Infrared ellipsometry study of the charge dynamics in ${\mathrm{K}}_{3}p$-terphenyl
Abstract We report an infrared ellipsometry study of the charge carrier dynamics in polycrystalline Kxp-terphenyl samples with nominal x=3, for which signatures of high-temperature superconductivity were previously reported. The infrared spectra are dominated by two Lorentzian bands with maxima around 4000 and 12000cm−1 which, from a comparison with calculations based on a Hückel model, are assigned to intramolecular excitations of π electrons of the anionic p-terphenyl molecules.

Chlorine dioxide is a more potent antiviral agent against SARS-CoV-2 than sodium hypochlorite
Summary Background A new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) abruptly emerged in Wuhan, China, in 2019 and rapidly spread globally to cause the COVID-19 pandemic. Aim To examine the anti-SARS-CoV-2 activity of the potent disinfectant Cleverin, the major disinfecting component of which is chlorine dioxide (ClO2); and to compare the results with that of sodium hypochlorite in the presence or absence of 0.5% or 1.0% foetal bovine serum (FBS).
Imaging the Néel vector switching in the monolayer antiferromagnet MnPSe3 with strain-controlled Ising order
Abstract Antiferromagnets are interesting materials for spintronics because of their faster dynamics and robustness against perturbations from magnetic fields. Control of the antiferromagnetic order constitutes an important step towards applications, but has been limited to bulk materials so far. Here, using spatially resolved second-harmonic generation, we show direct evidence of long-range antiferromagnetic order and Ising-type Néel vector switching in monolayer MnPSe3 with large XY anisotropy.

Unconventional free charge in the correlated semimetal Nd2Ir2O7
Abstract Nd2Ir2O7 is a correlated semimetal with the pyrochlore structure, in which competing spin–orbit coupling and electron–electron interactions are believed to induce a time-reversal symmetry-broken Weyl semimetal phase characterized by pairs of topologically protected Dirac points at the Fermi energy1,2,3,4. However, the emergent properties in these materials are far from clear, and exotic new states of matter have been conjectured5,6,7.

Jahn-Teller type small polaron assisted Na diffusion in NaMnO2 as cathode material for Na-ion batteries
Jahn-Teller type small polaron assisted Na diffusion in NaMnO2 as cathode material for Na-ion batteries Na-ion diffusion kinetics is one of the main bottlenecks that limit the fast charge/discharge rate of the electrode materials in Na-ion batteries. In this paper, for the first time, we identified that Na-ion diffusion is assisted by the Jahn-Teller (JT) type small polaron in the NaMnO2 compound from density functional theory calculations.
MBA School Choice: INSEAD vs. LBS
When it comes to choosing the very best business school in Europe, the choice may boil down to London Business School or INSEAD. Although there are plenty of prestigious MBA programs on the continent, the pairs are among the most revered. The Financial Times Global MBA Rankings 2018 placed INSEAD second in the world behind Stanford, with LBS in fourth. In the 2017 Bloomberg Businessweek International MBA Ranking, INSEAD leads the pack, with LBS just behind.
MBA Application: What is a Good GMAT Score?
For those who wish to attend one of the very best business schools, a high GMAT score can be the difference between admission or rejection. The problem for prospective students, however, is that business schools have different score requirements — and they don’t always reveal them. How do you judge which GMAT score you need to secure a place? The Rotterdam School of Management in the Netherlands, for example, requires that candidates submit a GMAT score as part of their MBA application.
Tuning the electronic properties of germanene by molecular adsorption and external electric field
The effects of both molecular adsorption and external electric field on electronic properties of germanene are investigated through first-principles calculations in this work. The molecular adsorption-induced intrinsic electric field by small molecules (SMs) breaks the symmetry of two sublattices in germanene, leading to the band gap opening from zero to 3.2 meV, even up to 81.0 meV.

The aim of this study was to develop a population pharmacokinetic (PPK) model for Chinese liver transplant patients and evaluate genetic polymorphism and other possible factors on the PK parameters. The exposure of TAC is to be estimated through Bayesian modelling.
Temperature-tunable Fano resonance induced by strong coupling between Weyl fermions and phonons in TaAs
High-quality single crystals of TaAs were synthesized through a chemical vapour transport method23. The as-grown crystals are polyhedrons with shiny facets up to 1.5?mm in size. X-ray diffraction measurements reveal that the as-grown facets are the (001), (107) and (112) surfaces (Supplementary Fig. 1). Systematic optical measurements were carried out on all three surfaces.
Ab initio investigation of Jahn-Teller distortion tuned Li ion migration in λ-MnO2
Migration of Li ion in electrode materials is the main limiting factor to determine the rate capability of Li ion batteries. In this work, the influences of Jahn-Teller (JT) distortion on Li migration in full delithiated LiMn2O4 (?-MnO2) are systematically studied by first-principles computational approach. Our results unravel the direction of JT distortion strongly affecting the activation barrier of Li ion migration in ?-MnO2.

357P Targeting dual metabolic pathway specifically killed malignant lymphoma cells
357P Targeting dual metabolic pathway specifically killed malignant lymphoma cells Background: The metabolic reprogramming is a remarkably different metabolic character among tumor cells and is linked to higher proliferation, stronger resistance to chemotherapy, more adaptive survival advantages and aggressive tumor progression. Malignant tumor cells prefer glycolysis rather than aerobic oxidation even under aerobic surroundings.
An Improved Attributed Scattering Model Optimized by Incremental Sparse Bayesian Learning
In this paper, we propose an improved attributed scattering model to mathematically unify the scattering models of several canonical primitives. These primitives include not only point- and line-segment-scatterers, such as trihedral, cylinder, dihedral, and rectangular plane, but also arc scatterers, such as sphere and top-hat. The estimation of the model parameters can be posed as an ill-posed linear inverse problem.
