In the months following the tragic shooting on April 16, 2007, people near and far expressed their grief and condolences by leaving or sending memorable and heartfelt objects. Virginia Tech received over 90,000 condolence items, coming from all continents, 80 countries and all 50 U.S. states. Senders include schools of all levels, businesses, individuals, retirement homes, groups of first responders and more. On campus, these could still be found around the Drillfield or in Squires Student Center.
