In “Confronting the Ovens: The Holocaust and Juvenile Fiction,” published in the February 1977 issue of The Horn Book, prolific children’s author Eric A. Kimmel, known for his prizewinning picture books, including Hershel and the Hanukkah Goblins and The Golem’s Latkes, offered an early typology for Holocaust books for children and the aspects of the Holocaust that they focused on.
